IPON CHALLENGE: 20K EDITION

I started this Ipon Challenge on January 1 talaga. It was part of my New Year's Resolution this 2017 and i'm happy because I finished it. Since I posted some pictures in twitter, a lot of people asked for tips on how to save. This ipon is I saved 50 pesos a day or roughly a dollar a day and this includes saturdays and sundays. My average allowance a day when there are classes is roughly around 150 pesos or less than 3 dollars.

So here are some tips on how to save:

  1.  Learn to prioritize. Prioritizing what to buy and if is it important enough to be bought. I learned to not buy on impulse and think about my purchases wisely. Even when it comes to food, I learned to buy only what would make me full and choose where to eat that will benefit me the most.
  2. Learn to say no. Oftentimes, my barkada or group of friends would usually eat outside campus and whenever we eat outside I tend to splurge more than the usual amount I would actually spend on food. This doesn't apply only to food but also on clothes or laags. This became so common that they don't even ask me if I want to go with them cause they already know my answer but i'm not kuripot when it comes to food.
  3. Be Conscious. Always remember that you are saving and that you have a target or end goal. Keep yourself motivated because in the end, it's really worth it.
  4. Look for alternatives. If you want to buy something badly, try comparing prices from different establishments for you to get it for the lowest price as possible or looking for similar products that will give you the same benefits as the one you really like.
  5. Be patient. This will take some time, this doesn't magically appear out of thin air. Remember, it took me A YEAR to compile 20,000. It wasn't an easy journey but it was a fulfilling one.
